Join me on Wednesdays to learn a new skill, have fun and unleash your creative muse. You know that your hump day evening never looked this good!
My teaching style is adaptable and I work with you. The classes are broadly structured and you'll finish the workshop having learned how to sculpt wonderful pieces by hand and throw clay on a wheel, you know, like in the movie Ghost but with more giggles and less...awkwardness. The classes are mixed, with returning students and new, and I ensure that you have fun. You'll get to paint, glaze and fire your products. No project is too hard for you to try either, so head on to Pinterest and get your ideas going! "...but what do I get out of this?" You get the opportunity to learn new skills, play with clay and learn a new art (without having to buy a kiln). You'll finish the lessons with 10 items that you can show in your home. They also make great and thoughtful gifts! The opportunity to connect with new people. Boasting rights! And, a great experience. "...but I won't be any good / I'm not very creative / my skills lie elsewhere..." Fair enough, your first bowl may take you a whole session instead of a few minutes. Your first pinch pot may take 20 minutes and not a speedy 5. BUT you're new! One of the best things about this course is that you learn new skills and apply others. Creating ceramics is an art that draws upon all kinds of other skills. One student made a flowered bowl; she was able to draw upon her experience in cake decorating. Another made a cookie jar as a first time project. Over time you'll develop a style and method to your work. For a list of current classes, click here. |
