For as long as I can remember, Loaves + Fishes have run an annual Empty Bowls fundraiser focused on helping those facing food scarcity no matter the reason.
It's a cause that's close to my heart.
In 2016, I started working with Loaves and Fishes. The Empty Bowls fundraiser has a low entry fee and all guests are served using a bowl that has been donated by a store, business, or artist. Those that attend get to go home with the bowl, which is amazing because you know you wouldn't be able to buy handcrafted bowls at such a low cost let alone be donating to charity and getting a meal at the same time!
A year into supporting this cause, my students started getting interested too.
This year, the majority of the bowls are made by students. They used their own clay and time to make dozens of bowls each! It's crazy how productive they have been.

Every year the pottery, paint and plant sale is hosted by myself and the Developmental Services of Leeds & Grenville Fundraiser.
And this year is no different.
I have been sharing my love of pottery and art with people of all ages and abilities for many years. For many of my students this brings a sense of accomplishment.
This sale allows you to buy beautiful pottery making your garden look like the sanctuary it is, to connect with the Brockville DSLG services, and to meet the artist behind your art purchase.
We also do a call out for plant donations around the same time to make the show a one-stop shop for updating your garden and outdoor aesthetic.
This fundraiser is one of the most affordable places for plant purchases, and it only lasts 3 hours. Which means....you snooze you lose - so get here early.
This unique program allows everyone to express themselves through art.
Purchasing a piece of original art will help the artists to feel validated and proud to contribute to their community!
Artists also receive 50% of their sales, encouraging them to create more masterpieces! Information on upcoming classes will also be available on the day.
50% of funds raised go straight back into providing pottery classes hosted through Developmental Services of Leeds and Grenville.
My talented pottery students welcome the public to the 8th Annual Pottery, Paint and Plant Sale on Saturday, May 26th 9:00 a.m-12:30. The sale will be held at Developmental Services of Leeds and Grenville, Central Park Connection.
Do you want to donate?
Donations of perennials and houseplants plants for the fundraiser sale are welcome. Spring is a great time to divide and transplant perennials, it’s the perfect time of year to share and find something new.
If you are able to donate, please bring potted and labelled plants to the Studio on Wednesday May 23rd between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. (or contact Caroline Guildboard: firstname.lastname@example.org to make alternative arrangements).
