Fall is here, which has me reminiscing about summer! One of my biggest joys this summer has been the Monarch butterflies that have been gracing the studio garden. There seem to be more than ever, which has felt like such a blessing.
As well as delighting in their fully formed beauty, I’ve been really fascinated in watching all the stages of the transformation. When they morph from caterpillar to butterfly they actually break down into ‘goo’ first. How fascinating is that? They literally mould themselves, like clay (see what I did there?) into a new form.
As the weather cooled, I noticed a cocoon hanging out. Not wanting it to freeze, I brought it in and spent the next few days cheering on my little butterfly friend before release him into the wid.
Now that the cooler weather is here it's my turn to seek out my blanket cocoon to do some reflecting on what this absolute beauty summer brought us.
