Be Better With Failure & Other Reasons Pottery Is Good For You

Working with Clay
Why it’s good for you
There are many benefits to working with clay:
  • It’s a pain reliever.
  • Clay reduces stress - all that manipulation of clay works magic.
  • It exercises hands, wrists, and arms - who knew exercising could be fun?
  • Exploration and experimentation are also good for your soul and overall well-being.

Those are just a few of my favourites, but there are thousands of articles online that will tell you why pottery is good for you - as a perfectionist, as an introvert, extrovert, kid, teen, and anything in-between.

I've put together a few of my favourite articles below:

Wishing For Warmer Weather In Athens: The Best Sangria Recipe...Ever

2/14/2019

Hey! Did you guys notice that it's cold and REALLY snowy outside?

If you didn't then there's no way you're living in Brockville. The weather has been annoying (at best!).

It's not a big surprise that I'm craving warmer days. My kayaks sit in the garage looking mournful whenever I go in, and I feel bad whenever I think of my bees (we lost a hive over winter).

You're over this weather too, right? If not, I'm not sure we can be friends anymore!

In an attempt to remember some of those summer feelings, I dug through my recipes (plus a few contributions from my students) and found this beauty of an idea!

Summer Sangria in winter?? Count me in!

Happy 2019: A Love Note To You

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I hope your 2019 is filled with great things.

I am starting 2019 off with a reminder of gratitude. I found this note (in photo) while I was organizing papers earlier.

These little thank you notes from students honestly make my day. I'm really grateful when someone takes the time to write me a note like this.

So, before 2019 commences any further I want to say thank you:

Thank you to my students from last year. If you've done classes with me you'll know I'm not always tech savvy - so I appreciate your patience and I also appreciate the great effort that you put into your work. Your creativity and drive make me happy, it's so infectious. I love seeing you figure things out, try new techniques and start applying lessons learnt from previous failures! (Not that it happens often because you're all perfect!).

I love teaching. I love sharing this art form. I love introducing pottery to kids, to adults, and to this community. Without my students, I wouldn't be able to do it. You make sure that I'm able to continue in my goal of keeping Leeds and Grenville creative.

In the past year, I've seen a waiting list form for my classes! I've never had this before. So thank you to everyone who tells everyone else about me.

Thank you for sharing my posts, my page, my pictures.

Thank you for taking photos of your work and posting them on your profiles.

Every little bit helps.

I am honoured and constantly surprised that I am able to support you on your creative journeys.

You all come to me with different goals. Whether you're wanting to make friends, whether you're wanting to have a new hobby now the kids have left home or whether it's because you used to be creative and then it kind of stopped (temporarily).

It's amazing that you let me into these little segments of your life.

Thank you for everything.

Happy 2019!
