Working with Clay Why it’s good for you There are many benefits to working with clay:
Those are just a few of my favourites, but there are thousands of articles online that will tell you why pottery is good for you - as a perfectionist, as an introvert, extrovert, kid, teen, and anything in-between. I've put together a few of my favourite articles below:
I'd love to know what you love about pottery. Head to our Facebook page and tell me all about it.
For as long as I can remember, Loaves + Fishes have run an annual Empty Bowls fundraiser focused on helping those facing food scarcity no matter the reason.
It's a cause that's close to my heart. In 2016, I started working with Loaves and Fishes. The Empty Bowls fundraiser has a low entry fee and all guests are served using a bowl that has been donated by a store, business, or artist. Those that attend get to go home with the bowl, which is amazing because you know you wouldn't be able to buy handcrafted bowls at such a low cost let alone be donating to charity and getting a meal at the same time! A year into supporting this cause, my students started getting interested too. This year, the majority of the bowls are made by students. They used their own clay and time to make dozens of bowls each! It's crazy how productive they have been. Learn more about the fundraiser by clicking on the image below. Hope to see you there on April 6th!
Hey! Did you guys notice that it's cold and REALLY snowy outside?
If you didn't then there's no way you're living in Brockville. The weather has been annoying (at best!). It's not a big surprise that I'm craving warmer days. My kayaks sit in the garage looking mournful whenever I go in, and I feel bad whenever I think of my bees (we lost a hive over winter). You're over this weather too, right? If not, I'm not sure we can be friends anymore! In an attempt to remember some of those summer feelings, I dug through my recipes (plus a few contributions from my students) and found this beauty of an idea! Summer Sangria in winter?? Count me in! |
